Rise N Shine is an after school program where children make music, sing, dance and build a show together. Guided by artist Natalie La Rose and youth coach Alain Lagger, they discover what they can do, who they are and how it feels to shine together.
Alongside singing and dancing, children learn to recognize and express their feelings. They listen to themselves and to each other. And so something grows that stays with them, long after the program ends.
From the first note to a song of their own. Children sing, make music and write together. They hear how strong their voice sounds in music. And they learn that their voice matters and deserves to be heard, also when they speak.
Choreography, rhythm and free expression. The body tells what lives inside, and the group moves as one.
Everything comes together in a showcase. The children create their own music video or present their project to family and friends. A moment full of pride and connection.
An artist who knows the stages of the world and a coach who devotes his life to connection. Together they create a place where children are free to shine.
Natalie is an international platinum artist with years of experience in the American entertainment industry. With her hit Somebody she reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, one of only three Dutch acts ever to do so.
Singing, dancing and performing live in everything she does. Now she passes that experience on to the next generation.
In class, Natalie lets children feel what happens when you create and perform, with your whole body and from your heart.

Alain started his career with the Amsterdam police at just sixteen, and that is where his passion for coaching young people began. After leaving the police, he worked as a producer of music videos and TV commercials. Since then he has coached people from all walks of life, from CEOs to at-risk youth. In Rise N Shine, all of these skills come together.
In class, Alain is the coach who helps children see themselves: their feelings, their strength, their place in the group.
